Help w/ Removing old Air Filter and adding RX-4750 KN Intake
Anyone have a list of tools and instructions on how to totaly remove old filter and add in the new Air Intake? I just got all my parts today:
Spectre Air intake Kit-Universal for Honda
3.75-3.0" Reducer
K&N RX-4750 Filter
Casper'* Electronics IAT Harness Extender
(Need Heat Shield)
(3 Hose Clamps) Sizes?
What do i need to fabricate a heat shield? Anything easy? that i could purchase today? Thanks

Well, I haven't put in a cone filter and intake tube, but I can tell you that you want a 1/4" nut driver or socket with extension, a large flate blade screwdriver and a phillips screwdriver to remove the airbox and accordian tube. It'* really pretty self-explanatory, but it'* easier if you know that the rubber stud mount on the bottom of the stock airbox is just a push-on/pull-off mount.
1. Loosen the two large screws connecting the airbox pieces where you filter is.
2. Loosen the large hose clamp connecting the accordian tube to the airbox and dis-assemble accordian tube from box. If this has never been done before the rubber may be stuck and you'll have to work it.
3. Remove the two 1/4" hex screws from the front airbox piece (above headlamp onfront frame rail).
4. Pull two pieces of airbox apart and remove stock filter.
5. Pull rear airbox pieces out. Rubber mount to stud may be old and may take some force to remove.
6. Loosen band clamp holding accordian tube to throttle body.
7. Remove accordian tube. (Send all removed parts to me for use at October SEBF Meet, lol. j/k)
For the install of the rice pipe, you'll likely have to test fit the filter, adaptor sleeve and pipe first as I recall that the pipe usually has to be cut down some to make a good fit. I suggest you do a quick search on "rice pipe" and/or "CAI" as there a number of install threads, many with great pictures. If you can't find a good one, let me know, and I'll do a search and link for you.
Many if not most have used Plexiglass/Lexan/Acrylic sheets to fabricate a heat sheild from. This is usually covered with Refectix or similar for insulation.

OMG...I hope you don't follow Lash'* instructions. (j'k Lash)
Ready
1. Adjustable wrench for removing the two screws/bolts that hold the airbox to the radiator support.
2. Unhook IAT sensor wire.
3. Pull rubber boot off throttle body by hand
4. Wiggle whole airbox and lift.
That'* it...this doesn't need to be a 12 step program..lol

on my 95 I did have to cut that pipe down. about 3 or 4 inches if i remember... test fit to be sure and "measure twice cut once..."! I also had to put a rubber spaced between the pipe and the compressor to stop the two of them from hitting eachother. now they just rub on the rubber...
