Default How can I add performance to my 90 Bonneville SE Cheap?

I was wondering on how I can add a little performance to my 90 Bonneville SE without breaking the bank? I already have an intake resistor. I am also going to put a K&N filter and an exhaust system, Maybe a Dynomax or Flowmaster. Is there anything else?

That intake resistor didn't do anything for you. It did for the guy that sold it to you, though. It'* a 25 cent resistor....unless you did it yourself (I hope). Don't buy this stuff off of ebay!

If you got a 1hp change out of it, I'd be surprised. Intake, exhaust, and 180° thermostat are the big three. Other than that, the basic tuneup things are important, too. O2 sensor is probably pretty weak, plugs/wires/fuel filter, etc. All these things will gain back some performance in an older car.

'What exactly is the 02 sensor, and how much is it to replace it? Also, is it easy to change your self?

Easier than changing a spark plug. Go up to Techinfo. I just posted all the O2 part numbers and prices for them at www.gmpartsdirect.com not 12 hours ago!

Default insanek'* 90 SE

Hello, I paid $3.00 for it, that was with shipping. I do feel a difference in the way it performs in the top end. It also feels like it runs smoother now.

You should be getting better mileage, too.

Also what brands do you prefer and why? Just so I could get a little help in picking somethings out.

I'm assuming your 3 bucks was a typo, and you meant to add a zero after the 3?

As far as O2'* are concerned, I learned my lesson the hard way just like Jr did. Never anything but AC Delco for me. My Bosch fixed most of the problem right away, but not quite full recovery of mileage. 60 days later it was dead. Jr warned me, and now I'm a believer. There'* just something about these Buick 3800'* that kills the Bosch. I don't know what it is, but I'll never run any other type of O2 sensor in my car again.
