i have a 97 se and am planning on buying an aluminum pipe from Advanced Auto and going to buy a K&N filter no ive read most of the articles about rice pipes so i know how to put one in but
i wanna know how to take the stock stuff out
i dont want to end up braking something b/c i tried to take it off wrong
like the black flex pipe how do i pull that off of the manifold?
and then i guess i better ask WHAT SHOULD I BUY i dont want to have to custom make a pipe so im asking someone to TELL ME exactly what i should buy money is a little bit of a problem but not huge i know a K&N is NOT questionable (that is what is going in it)
but just curious about what and where i should buy the pipe

they say a 3.5" coupler is pushing it with your TB so if you can find a 4" to 3" that would be easier.

then you need a 4" to 3" silicone reducer ( I think anyway) my tb is smaller so I dont know where to get that at. do a google search

The Stock box should come off easily and it is just hose clamped on there. as far as the IAT that will need a little work with a dremel or soldering iron to make it fit in the K&N Filter.

Unscrew metal ring from TB/Intake...Pry black rubber tube off from TB/Intake, dont worry, they are pretty strong, use wd40 if u have to

If I remember right, there are four black screws holding the air box to the car. The first two are near the front of the car, you have to pry the screws up from underneath while screwing them out at the same time.

The other two are near the bottom of the air box, you should remove the black rubber tube before reaching those.

The IAT sensor, just pull that out of the tubing, it is in there pretty snug, so get mad at it and yank, once again, maybe use some type of lubricant.

What is the IAt sensor i am kinf of a nube with the terms. I would also like to put on a new intake but i haveto rig up the sensor onto the intake? I can;t just throw a pipe on form autozone and a K&N filter and im good ?

We have a great fenderwell intake kit that would take almost all the guesswork out of the install. I have run it in my car for almost a year.

The IAT sensor can be mounted in the RX-4750 for a better reading position.

Thats where mine currently is, but to be honest, air is moving SO fast at WOT that it wont have time to change temp from the filter to the TB and WOT is when you need the best reading for timing control.

Well the PCM will adjust for it regardless.. Especially OBD-II models. Just like it would adjust for a resistor.

But many of the civic intakes that have been used keep the IAT out of the main airflow, and that area could heat up and cool down differently then the inducted air.

i was lookin under the hood of my car before tennis practice the other day and i realized that my car doesnt even have a hose clamp holding the intake tube on it is just a thick piece of rubber and youjust have to pry it out of the notch that it is mounted in and your done
but i need to fall into some money before i can do ANYTHING to my car
