Default Tranny Cooler question from the Newb...

First off, I would like to say hello. I picked up my 1999 SSEi on Saturady and absolutely love it.

I wanna put in a tranny cooler ASAP, but I am wondering if there are any specific ones owners are having luck with.

Thanks.

Jay

Any tranny cooler about the size of a sheet of printer paper. Any rating in that size will be fine.

Welcome to the forum!

I was wondering if you could settup a valve with a nother tube and Y connector to be able to rerout past the tranny cooler so in winter you will heat your engion up quicker for better warming of car

It'* not going to make that much of a difference. Probably won't be noticeable.

You would be opening the door to leaks through the extra connections in that situation. Simply covering part of the cooler in the winter may be a better option.

Thanks for the Replys. Does anyone have pics of one installed, any 'dos' & dont'* when installing? Thanks.

I noticed the GP guys are useing coolers 3/4 the size of their radiators, Overkill? I would think the tranny would have problems pumping thru that?

Is it safe to totally bypass the factory cooler?

Thanks for the paitence, I just dont want to fock my new-to-me ride.

Don't bypass, and don't cover more than 50% of your existing radiator. Precool the trans fluid in the new cooler before it enters the rad.

Here'* a pic of my install. If you look closely, you can see both the stock and the aftermarket cooler stacked. The aftermarket is slightly smaller, and darker in color:
