Default Worried about another tranny blowout

Hey, I was wondering if there is anything I could to make my existing transmission take more abuse? I own a 95 non-sc bonnie. This past summer my tranny went on the highway shortly after I got my superchip. My hp was probably around 230 or so. There is alot of talk about tranny coolers. Is this the answer? I atleast want to get 250 horses without having anything die on me. Thanks.

These transmissions are pretty tough.....but they're electronically controlled. It'* possible for a chip to handle the trans wrong and cause something to go boom. Superchips aren't the greatest rep around here. We have one owner that likes his, but the general idea is not so good. I'm running a Jet Stage 2, and trust it completely with my entire drivetrain.

You have the 4T60-E trans. I personally wouldn't worry about it for a VERY long time if you just had it rebuilt. My neighbor is running the same trans in a 93 SSE at 180,000 miles +. Not a single prob with it. The only time it didn't like OD, was when his TPS went out.

Mod away. Don't worry.

There'* an article up in Techinfo that lays out our 'typical' mod path on these cars. We always try to start with the insurance first. 180° stat and tranny cooler. From there, just follow the most logical sequence. Some mods have to be completed before you can do others, some are more bang for your buck. The article is written to reflect that.
