Shifter swap
i got the crazy idea last night about swapping my shifter from the column to the floor...a mechanic said it would be easy ...providing i found the column and swapped my seats for bucket seats. A fellow bonnie owner told me about a bonnie he was gonna by for the body...it had a crapped out motor. He just wants the body cuz he'* got an engine and everything to put in it...he don't need the interior and said that if i paid half....he'd give me what ever i wanted out of it...it'* 200 dollars and we'd be paying 100 each. Sound like a good deal? Think it would be pretty cool? Any Input guys.
thanks...James

year and trim
i dont know about anyone else, but i would consider this to be a super huge job, considering you are basically redoing the entire interior. all the new wiring, etc...
good luck if you are up to it

mine is a 97 se..and the interior is out of a 95 se...the only wiring i was told is the lights and controller for the shift indicator. The seats should bolt right up and the console should sit nicely....maybe even bolt up too. It does seem like a big job...but i think it would be neat..
I really don't have to swap the dash either. the console for the shifter should slide under mine..and i'd trim it so it wouldn't look retarded in my car.
Did i mention these seats are leather...

For $100 it would be a cool job. The seats are likely electric so you may have to move the controler over and find a power source. The shift linkage so go alright like the mechanic said.
All and all a fun project for little money?

yep...he said that disconnecting the battery will allow the capacitor to empty..and allow no power to the realease mechanism... Then remove the steering wheel and the column boot...i'd get a chiltons or hanes manual to find the proper procedure first..just to be certain..or at least have him write it down..
