EGR Delete ?????
 

I've read that the EGR pipe can be unhooked from the exhaust manifold and allowed to intake clean air vs exhaust gas. A block off plate can be used to close off the exh manifold. This should prevent soot build up inside the intake.

Some some said that will cost about 1 mpg on mileage.....true or false ?
Another said that the engine will lose a little torque.........why?
Wouldn't fresh air be better for the motor than recycled exhaust ?
My throttle body and intake had alot of oily soot inside for only 35,ooo miles on the engine

True, it will lower fuel milage.
True, with the little added exhaust boost the egr provides.
Yes and no, the fresh air makes the engine burn hotter and cleaner. Clean good, heat hurts the vlaves, manifolds.
35k is enough time to build up with exhaust soot. This is normal.

I have the egr block off plate as well as a few other members. This is not as much a problem with sc cars but the valves may not last as long?

if i were you i would leave it alone, you dont want to hurt your valvetrain.

If you are making an all out "going to the drag strip every weekend" type of car, go ahead. But if you're keeping your car somewhat streetable, leave it be. Hope this helps. :wink:
