Default Another Throttle Body spacer ?

OK, so the ZZPerformanc TB spacer, and other brands, blocks off the coolant flow to the throttle body correct? Now I know that the TB spacer probably wont do a whole lot for noticable power gains as that velocity isnt gained much and the surface area of the TB and MAF cant cool the fast moving intake air quick enough to make an actual differance in intake air temps, but maybe the spacer could help keep the TPS, MAF and maybe the IAT sensor cooler to get more acurate readings? Does heat have an effect on the accuracy of the sensors?

There is zero gain in a tb spacer as a mod by itself, other than a tool to adapt a different throttle body or an access port for an alky setup or nos port.

TB spacers only work on some TBI applications. The idea originally came from carburetor days, which directly relate to TBI. No bearing whatsoever or relationship to multi-port other than an adapter for some other purpose.

Don't do it. I remember our conversation from when you were alive last fall and I agree with the people above me...not worth the time/effort.

I know, I had started another thread about the TB spacer last fall, I just had this theory kinda ting start rolling around in my head about the electronic sensors performing better if they were cooler, since I know some electronics, home stereo amplifiers for example, start to fault when they get too hot which is no where near the temps that a car can produce, and I thought that maybe that would be a case in the TB situation, not the sensors necesarilly faulting, but not getting the most precise metering....if ya get my drift?

Another thought I had today, was would it help with just a general heat soaking situation as you are eliminating a heated peice of the engine esentially?

Im not trying to make a reason to get it, just asking the posibilitys that maybe have or have not been thought of.

You say that the spacer blocks off the coolant flow to the throttle body, & if that is correct... Wont that by itself lower the temperatures of the incoming air?
When I did this to my Trans Am, I remember how before you could not touch the TB becuse of the temperature, & now its cold to the touch all the time.

I dont know what engine is in your TA, but it probably falls under willwrens post?

Your better off with a heat shield under your tb to guard against cross over pipe heat than you are a tb spacer. There really is nothing to gain in a super charged application, actually you could make it worse.

again.

Under full-boost runs on L67'*, the coolant is actually COOLING the TB and inlet of the SC. Temperature spikes at the inlet are severe at WOT.

I might beg to differ on that.

I have plugged off the coolant passages in the LIM so the coolant does not even go to the SC.

It actually runs cooler. The air passing thru cools is down after it heat soaks.
180 F coolant will heat it up.

........something to argue about around the campfire......
