Default resonator question?

Has anybody heard of placing a resonator in the place of the catalytic converter? If so how much louder does it make the vehicle?

If your state or town does inspections, then I would advise against doing that. I think the resonator would quite it down a little bit, definately have some type of affect on your exhaust noise.

It definatley wouldn't make the car that much louder. I should only cost about 50 bucks to have someone weld it on there for ya.
O yea and that'* really illegal. unless you know someone at a shop, they most likely won't replace your cat w/ a res. They can get fined for doin that. Not to mention u could too. :?
It'* all good though, i know alot of people w/ straight pipes.

In Alberta you can run a straight pipe in place of the cat, depending on the year of your car you need a rear O2 sim so you wont get a ses light. Welded in the pipe will only cost about $50, and any muffler shop in Alberta will do it. Expect gains to be 5-10hp.

Believe it or not, even the Cat will make a sound difference. I'm not sure I'd run without it for that reason. I'm running a Magnaflow Cat, 24" resonator right behind it, and Magnaflow muffler. I'm finally pleased with the sound. I liked it before, but adding the resonator really did it for me.

The Resonator had to be modified to fit that tight spot, but it worked I have pics of the install if you're interested. 3 of our members were there when it happened and got to witness the before and after.
