Exhaust system redoing.
OK guys. I've posted before about exhaust systems.
Heres the story. Last year, I made a post about having dual exhaust. Most of you mentioned the camaro exhaust. I checked it out, and ordered parts.
As for the Catalytic converter. I used a maremont regular catalytic converter. I did not use a high flow cat, because I did not have the $$ to spend on it. Well, besides, it did the job, and I don't believe I need to modify it anytime soon. I'm not looking to upgrade it to a high flow cat just yet, but I will next summer when I have a little extra cash to waste.
Now, the pipe i put on there. It was cheap, costing like 35 bucks. I dunno, but it has those ripples on the bends that suggest cheap pipe. I can probably live with it for a while. But can I get a new pipe, mandrel bent (no ripples), stainless from the dealer??? Or does anyone stock them that are right handy here?
It has no resonator. I ordered it for my year Buick. I also went with the dual outlet economy muffler. Looked good. Just a couple of plain pipes sticking out of the rear. Yep, matched the car well!
However, it sounds like CRAP. You know the sound you get when you have a very small exhaust leak? rrruuuuummmmmmmmMMMMMM (shift) hrrrummmmmmmMMMMM shift. You get my point.
I still love the duals. However, I don't want sound. I want quietness below 3000 rpm. After that, because i'm usually romping on the throttle, i love the 3800 roar. However, it has to be quiet before that. All I want to hear is the sound of an intake sucking air. I don't mind good flow, but because I have an economy cat, i'm not terribly worried about performance, but if there is a premium muffler that can flow good, but run silky quiet, no problem.
Should I install a Resonator? What kind of resonator? Where do i get it? The Buick did not have a resonator before, and with the stock muffler, it was REAL quiet!! Which i liked!
Again, my gripe? The exhaust sounds too much like theres a leak in the system, and also, there is that distinctive put-put-put-put-put-put sound, which is also annoying and LOUD!
Anyways, my apologies for not listening to you guys about your muffler recommendations, and if I've asked the questions again, i'm sorry. I really appreciate the help.
