Headlight Question
Right now, I am running the stock headlight bulbs for the high and low beams. I am looking for some replacelemt bulbs. I came across a store with a nice set of headlight bulbs in 9005 and 9006. The problem is, the 9006 replacements draw 80 watts and the 9005 draw 100 watts. This is more wattage than the stock bulbs draw - 55/65 watts respectively. Is running these bulbs going to melt my wires or heat up my headlight assembly so that is begins to distort? If so, it is not worth it. Any advice is appreciated.

I ran 80 watt bulbs in my car for about 8 months with no ill effects. But then I know a lot of other cars have had them burn up the plugs for the bulb. Either Sylvania'* are a good buy, those are the only DOT legal bulbs.
I would say forget getting high beams, you won't notice that much difference unless you aim your lights down more.

More bulb questions...
I appreciate your feedback. Perhaps the 80 watts is not enough to do damage. However, PIAA headlight bulbs are DOT approved as well.
Is there a noticeable difference between the Silverstars and the Cool Blue? I would assume so, but I am not sure. Also, is there a noticeable difference between the stock bulbs and the cool blue? And information is appreciated.

I just bought some Silverstars for my 01 ssei, First I changed just the drivers side. Drove it a night one day, (I know Im was that guy you see with 2 different color headlights) And I'm sad to say theat the stock bulbs were brighter than the silverstars, just by a little bit. The color of the light was much better. The other thing I didn't like was that the fogs didn't match the silverstars. So ended up putting the stockers back in. Put in the silverstars in my mom'* 99 monte Z34 and she loves them, did the same test on her car and the WERE BRIGHTER. WTF?
I did the same test on my old Aurora and the were also brighter than stock. again WTF.
As for color refrence
Stock = Yellow
Cool blue = takes the yellow out BUT far from blue at all
Nexos = very blue, looked good but failed my test and was much darker on the aurora.
Silverstars = silver look at day (far from yellow) nightime is slight purplish tint. also nice looking.
Fogs- on the aurora, 893 bulb 50 watt, after I put a system in it, I started to blow fog lamps like monthly, so replace easily 20-25 bulbs. Tried evey brand I could find and ended up liking some yellow ones I found, the silverstars and yellow fogs looked great. I had 2 extra yellow 893'* laying around and popped one in the ssei. I know the wattage is higher than recommend 883 but tried it anyways. It ws much brighter than stock but the bad part was that it was making the foglamp housing WAY to hot. so went back to stock.
Probably going to save up for a HID kit and got some angleye fogs, need to look into blazertech fogs too.
(These are just my experinces with these lamps)

silverstars do work good but pretty pricey and definately better than cool blue........if you are looking to change the color to blue/bright white there are others better than silverstars. cool blue is totally misleading it is barely tinted blue and it is definately not worth it if you want a blue look and still $30 ($15 each)....i had cool blues and all they did get rid of some of the yellow but still wasnt worth the money spent on them (nobody would really notice the difference if you changed them to cool blue because it is such a slight color change)....i got my pair of street glow xenon-white headlights for $25 and they work wonderful. they are 80 watts. also i have been running them for about 6 months and have had no problems.
