Default BonnevilleFest 2004 -- Drag Day Results (Part 1)

The air was crisp.
The temperature was mild.
The sky was cloudy.
....
The Bonnevilles ripped down the track like screaming eagles.

Those who ran at the track were as follows:
Me (Mach..duh)
Rogue
TaylorD
BonnieMeMN
SOLID
smellbird

Me and Rogue lined up for some 104 octane fuel at the track, both of us agreed the 3 gallons was the best $15 we spent in our lives. We lightened up the cars be removing jacks, spare tires, any extras, and some of us removed the back seat. Some of us also removed the wheel speed sensors.

--------------------------

This is how the day went from my own eyes, to hear it all I encourage all of those who ran on Saturday to post their races as well:

I was first to jump into our own lane for the event to do a time run. Shortly after Jason (BonnieMeMN) lined up behind me and the rest followed. It was slow to race because over 200 motorcycles were there...some sort of bike bracket race from hell that lasted all day.
Anyway, first practice run was me on the left and Jason on the right. Well guys I never owned an SSEi before and never ran this Bonnie at the track before Saturday, so I was not sure what to expect. The lights went down and we both took off...well Jason did, I just sat there.

I sat there for a long time...

In fact I was doing a burnout almost the entire length of the track and left a huge cloud of smoke behind me. I kept thinking, "It will hook up, it will hook up, it will hook up"....it didn't hook up as you could imagine. :?
I was handed a 16.5 time slip and laughed. "Ok time to figure out how to drive this car", I thought.

Rogue gave me some good tips and we were off again. 15.0 flat...still not happy.

Again. 14.7...better.

No more time to mess around, bracket racing started and I was confident that I could run much faster so I dialed in a 14.45. Seth dialed in a 15.50 as well. It was me and Seth for the first round and we both had strong starts. Seth did very well and got a 2.251 second 60' time with a 15.572 second quarter mile time. However, I ran a 14.475 and my dial in was 14.45!

Now for some reason I thought that was as fast as my car was going to go. Well I was wrong...but Jason thought the same about his car.

I kept my 14.45 dial in and Jason dialed in a 16.09. It was me and Jason in round 2.

Jason hooked up nicely with a 2.259 60 foot and I was stick lacking with my average 2.3 60 foot. However I had a nice reaction time and felt the car pull very hard. I made my way past Jason before the finish and felt good...but worried I broke my dial in because Jason ran strong. Well we BOTH did!

I ran a 14.303 and Jason ran a 15.995, breaking the 16.0 second barrier in an N/A L27.

Jason won due to the smaller margin to his dial in.

Rogue broke his dial in long before all of this, but he'* going to tell you all about that.

So it was down to Taylor and Jason in the final round. The lights when down for Jason and he sat there looking at the pretty color green, then finally went.
Taylor took off like a bat outta hell and ran down Jason will steel the win. Congrats to Taylor for winning the BonnevilleFest 2004 Bracket Race! His trophy is being engraved as I type this, so you better take pics when it arrives.

Rogue won another trophy, but again...that'* for him to tell.

After the bracket racing there was a just enough time to get another test and tune run in so a few of us lined up for the finale. This is where my car really shined. She was strong out of the hole, hooked up almost perfectly, and ate up that 104 octane with pleasure. Here were my results:

R/T: .557
60': 2.267
330: 6.016
1/8: 9.274
1/8 MPH: 78.31
1000: 11.983
1/4: 14.261
1/4 MPH: 96.27

Time slip:

Afterward I weighed my car in on the track scale at 3690lbs.
Taylor weighed in at about 4100lbs with his stereo.
Rogue was at 3900ish I believe.

Rockers, springs, retainers, and pushrods are coming...here comes 13.9!
It was a great time and the weather was just about perfect.

Yeah, the track was great. Weather was especially cooperative. I think that I can knock off a few more hundredths on mine.

Damn! I wish we'd had your weather for WCBF at Woodburn!

Great times, and great writeup Kyle! Big pat on the back for you personally, for putting all this together.

I may need to boost my octane more....I was only running 95ish at Woodburn.......what was your total octane mix?

I had about 3.5 to 4 gallons of 94 and 3 gallons of 104.

It helps that the pre-2000 Bonnies are lighter, yet heavier in the front. I'm keeping Todd on his toes.

Kyle I was quite impressed with how well your car ran. Everyone seemed to meet their goals for the day.

I'm almost sad I missed that burnout, being infront of you. Almost I'll have my thread up soon!

Was a great time minus all the freaking Bikes,
I was pretty happy with my times, track prep was pull out spare and false floor of my stereo and the bottom of the rear seat, Had some 100octane, pulled front speed sensors and ELC trick for the rear.

My runs
14.212@ 101.38 w/2.161 60ft
14.247@ 99.53 w/2.188
14.229@ 99.63 w/ 2.190
14.269@ 95.51w/ 2.148

Had a 15.2 in there w/ 2.65 and a 14.7@ 79mph for my "buy" round in the bracket racing, didn't want to break out, worked on the launch

Pretty happy with my consistant 14.2'* but was amazed when I weighed in.
Me 4140lbs
Todd 3960 I believe.

Freaking 300lbs heavier with the same track prep. Could be so close to 13'* but oh well, no more major mods planned for this year, next yeat though 13'* are mine.

Very suprised at Kyle'* times, damn lighter cars. Don't care though, I love my stereo and it'* not coming out. just need more mods.

I'll get a picture of my trophy for the bracket racing when It comes.

I'd show my best slip but it has Todds best run on it too so I'll wait for him

Looks like those rockers and LSD are worth a couple of tenths.
