Default Scan Tools & Cell Phone Apps

I am revisiting an old notion to start messing around with apps like DashCommand and Torque Pro on my phone, mainly because I like he idea of being able to see electronic gauges and info on my phone, and I like making little Dyno runs using the apps Dyno feature, yeah I know it is not 100% accurate.I used to use an ELM 27 to hook to my cell, but I want something better, always had my eye on Kiwi, I see they have up to Kiwi 4 now, and Kiwi 4 supports data logging, and can even data log I think it is 14 or so PID'* without your phone even connected, Kiwi 3 & 4 are the only ones I see that has upgrade-able firmware, and instant on as soon as you turn your car on...
Only thing is Kiwi 4 is 130.00, really for my needs I know the Kiwi 2 would work well enough, I just like how small the Kiwi 4 is, as well as the fact it can transfer data faster..
Also rather than pulling out my Actron scanner, if somebody I know has pending DTC'* I can check them with my phone...

I need something to hold the phone, I thought about the cup holder things weathertech sells, but I found this decent sounding one for 10$

Then I could start using https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...mmand&hl=en_US

Anybody else use any of the cell phone OBD2 apps?

I use the Torque Pro with the Kiwi 2 I think. I just use it to check codes. Pretty neat setup it is. I don't like the Kiwi2 because of the long cord dongle. Kiwi4 is WiFi I believe.

Yea the original Kiwi 2 sucked, they redesigned it to be similar to 3 and 4 though, and it is 45$
I like Kiwi 4 because it is small, and uses very little power so I can leave it plugged in at all times if I want, plus the instant on when the car comes on should allow it to connect to the app faster.

Here are specs and all for Kiwi 4, pricey but sounds good, it has a comp grade accelerometer.
Kiwi 3 and 4 is BT, Kiwi 2 shows as RF

After looking at reviews for the Kiwi3 and Kiwi4 I am not going to waste my money, I may eventually get a redesigned Kiwi 2 without the cable attached, but for now I think I'll just spend 11$ and get the cable I need to update the software on my Actron CP9575, hell it probably does not matter if I update it or not, it will probably be discontinued soon like older models, but I have not updated it for a few years...

I did not order a device, I ordered a cable to use to update the firmware on my Actron Scanner.
