What did they use to control fuel, just a chipped PCM?
I could see myself doing a very similar setup on an L36 with ease :) what is the fuel pump rewire? To make it have a better ground or what is the deal exactly? |
If ya want your boost sooner, get a smaller turbo.

If you look at the dyno chart:
http://www.securemc.com/sites/folder...er/Z7Dyno4.JPG It looks like some major power breakup after the intial peak. Fueling issues, KR or booststack/heat issues (probably due to stock heads and cam). Great numbers for little mods but the question is, is it safe? I like the high quality look of the kit, big difference from previous offerings. |
I would put a lot of that blame on the stock exhaust manifolds. People here running 1/2 those boost levels experienced a decrease in KR due to PEM's or headers. I'm sure there are other factors but I would assume that to be a large one.

yeah, i assume that the restrictive exhaust doesn't help at all, but i bet the stock cam holds it back a bit too

Also keep in mind that the same boost level at a lower rpm = higher cylinder pressure, all else being equal. And of course that increases the chances for detonation.
It's all about finding the right balance. Getting big torque by bringing on the boost sooner can work, but it does have limits, especially on pump gas. If you go too far you can expect to lose a headgasket or lose the power benefits to additional KR. |
