The back really don't need much porting. The front can be done but will get thin and really needs to be thickened up by welding. And welding cast is hard.

is there any type of wright up on this ive been looking but no luck. how about the skeewing injecters do you know about that. i read some stuff jr3800 and willwren was saying in old threads about plogs and pem'* being worse for the motor cuz they offset the air from from front to back front ran lean back rich. what are the newest thought on that?

He is mistaken on that. As the engine sits stock the front manifold is way restricted, and the rear is open. Installing a Plog or a set of PEMs balances out the flow and is better for the engine. The only way you are going to adjust your injector flow is with a tuning program such as HP tuner. And you really don't need to worry about that for a while.

A Plog is a very good option. The price is reasonable. I have not personally used them or seen any. But, I have seen some pictures of them cracking. But keep in mind there will be far more people post about a problem them post about when there not having problems. Installing them is not a real problem and I could do it in about a half hour to 45 mins. If this is your first time set aside 2 hours to be safe. Soak the studs with penitration oil once or twice a week for a good month before you make the change. Makes life much easier.

A little later today I will go to my shop and take a picture of a stock front and rear manifold so you can see the difference. Hmm, I might have a picture on my computer now that I think of it.

Found them.

This is a stock front.

This is a stock rear.

This is a ported front left, and a stock front right.

Now you can see with your own eyes the difference between the front and rear and how important to performance and engine safety changing the front manifold is.

if you want to go with a power log i would recommend the stainless version because they are much more resistent to cracking and the stainless holds in the heat better than the mild steel. but if you price a power log and downpipe you might as well get these headers and be ahead of the game for future use... Pontiac Performance Racing Products for International Sales from SSAutochrome Inc.

lots of people on the grand prix and regal forums have had excellent luck with these headers. they are copies of the slp headers, so they definately have a good design. they are also made out of stainless so they are the best bang for the buck. i plan to get a set for the regal this year

first of all dan any thoughts on these you seem to be the guru right now lol. i looked at those and assumed for that price they had to suck but if the thinking here is they will work i might be up for it. however there again they are 3 inches i know ill lose LOTS of torque with a 3"

the other thing ive been reading a lot about porting the lower so thats gunna happen around the same time as the exhaust, would that give me enough flow to not lose the low end?

The price is good for a set of headers if they fit right and don't give you trouble. I'm not sure but you may need a different trans dip stick, I know I did. You will also have to do a fair amount of exhaust work. The headers wont bolt up to the stock exhaust. So the down pipe has to come out and the new one wont fit. So you may need to cut out the cat and move that back. So you may end up with a few hundred bucks in custom welding done. Not sure on the SLP fitment, Purplehasier is going threw that right now. I have a write up about installing headers in the tech info area. If you do a Plog, it'* a bolt in, perhaps a hour of your time and a pint of your blood. Might want to instal them when the local kids are in school too, there will be some yelling coming from your garage. Exhaust work is a real pain. There should be a write up on installing PEMs as well.
