Default Redneck motor swapping?

okay this sounds as retarded as it would be! okay My unlce has a 92+ssei with a motor issue and has a 87 that runs like a swiss watch still. He wants to take out the motor of the ssei and replace it with the motor out of the 87? I was wonder if anyone has ever done this? he'* kinda strapped on cash and just needs a running car!.. can it be done even, does it all even line up the same ?...just wondering !...

This really can't be done practically. The 87 Motor is the LN3 and the 92 Motor is the L67. You basically have to swap the entire drive train, then sit down and try to figure the electrical out, which would be a huge issue. Computers would have to be changed as well.

My suggestion is drive the 87.

just a slight correction to the reply above

the 87 motor is the LG3 (the craptastic one)
