Advantages of using Series II coils on a Series I
I understand they have higher resistance. My coils have just under 7 ohms of resistance, but they vary quite a bit from each other, so I will probably want to replace them but am thinking of doing series II coils.
What benefits will I see from adding Series II coils? Also I assume the ICM is the same with the 2 motors.

Don't think in terms of higher resistance. Think in terms of higher TURNS ratio. A coil is a transformer. You get a higher output voltage (and lower current) the greater the difference in turns is between the primary and secondary.
Series 2 coils is exactly what you have. For the NA. 92-96 SSEi'* and all non-supercharged cars to this day use those coils. The 97 and newer L67 coils are slightly 'hotter' (have a greater ratio), and the MSD'* are even greater still.
If you have a BAD coil, it'll make a noticable difference. If not, then you MIGHT notice a smoother idle and POSSIBLY smoother power delivery in the midrange. I could barely detect this in my 93 when I went to MSD'*, so I assume it would be even harder to detect with 97 L67 coils.
