Default strange project idea with series 1 3800

Hello folks, I have a complete and running lesabre that I've pulled the engine from and I have intentions of powering a hydrostatic pump in my demo combine (feel free to roll your eyes at this point haha). Im open to comments of any nature regarding this plan but what im really after is some advise on the best way to wire this up especially the anti theft and any thing else that I'm not thinking of. I'm pretty handy with a welder or a tractor but this kind of critical thinking eludes me I guess

LOL, I aint criticizing no farmer that puts food on my plate!!!

2 ways of doing this and it isn't going to be fun.

1. Reprogram the PCM to ignore security.

2. Keep all the security/body control modules etc all connected together and keep the ignition lock connected to the security module. This is more of a electrical nightmare than anything else.

Or....find a carb'd V6.

the series one is kind of a pain, you have to find someone who still programs chips. another option is the bypass module that sends the signal to the pcm fuel enable.

GM VATS Bypass Module For LS1 and LT1 GM VATS Bypass Module For LS1 and LT1 [gmvats] - $24.95 : 3rdBrakeFlasher, E-commerce web site

you have to find out what pin on the pcm is the fuel enable and wire that into it

Thanks for the replys, I know a guy that may be able to program my computer so I suppose I'll check that out first. I've got a 350 powering it currently but it doesn't run that well not to mention I rolled the combine during the demo so im not sure how well the engine survived that. I do like that vats fooler that seems to be a pretty straight forward fix.

The ultimate fix is reprogramming the PCM, because then you can reprogram it to suit your needs. Other concerns include the transmission, or lack there of, o2 sensors, etc. This can all freak out the PCM if you don't plan for it, and don't take everything over.

i dont think the trans or any of the emissions matters one way or the other. you need o2'* obviously but all it has to do to go to a certain rpm and stay there

So could one conclude that wiring up the computer with whatever sensors are on the motor and the vats fooler should be the trick?

i would think so, you will have a bunch of codes but i think the engine itself would run normal that way. you would need the fuel pump from the donor car as well, it needs a specific pressure. and i would grab the air filter and elbow and whatever sensors might be there, sometimes they have air temp sensors there, that would be required

Well I got wild last night and tore out the vats module, the computer and the plug that goes through the firewall and started sticking wires together. I think I figured out how to wire up the vats so I can at least try this out. Im hoping to work on it tonight so we'll see

you have to keep the whole ign to plug in to the module. i think the obd1 ones had a start bypass relay too
