100$
50$ for the K&N filter
30$ for a 3.5in. 45deg. mandrel bent piece of steel pipe
20$ for a heat resistant coating from PerformanceCoatings.com

It can be cheaper if you get stuff from Home Depot or something.

how does the pipe attach to the TB? first off i guess how big around is the TB? are the K&Ns really better than the others? like if i got the brand from PFYC for like 30 bucks instead of 50 would i notice a difference? and i guess for the filter, narrower might be better so i could get it farther away from the engine and not hit the other stuff under there....aslo what sort of insulation is good to use to keep hot air away? and whats a good way to mount the intake pipe? where else would you support it besides just the TB? lets see im forgetting something....oh yeah whats the best way to mount the IAT sensor? sorry for all the questions, but inquiring minds want to know.

and smellbird if its not too much trouble do you have a pic of your intake?

I just attached my pipe with the stock tube. The TB diameter is 3" i believe. Your choice on what filter to get, if you want to save $$ go with whatever you want. You can use header wrap for insulation, I'm sure there are cheaper alternatives. IAT sensor is plugged into the stock rubber tube, I'm not sure on the size of it if you want to place it into the intake pipe.

I'll get a pic up as soon as I find my camera, I lost it.

whered you get the pipe at? local place probly? whats the radius on that? i looked around online just for the pipe and i saw that term alot and didnt know what i was looking for. i also didnt really find any 3.5inch pipe....and whats the part number on that K&N? or at least what are the dimensions? i dont need like down to the 32nd of an inch or anything but just kind of a general idea....and lets see what else am i forgetting...could any damage be done to the PCM by running it without the cover on? and did you notice any difference after you got the intake compared to stock? and as always thanks for all the help....this is probly the greatest, most helpful, most courteous forum ive ever seen.

The pipe is actually just steel exhaust pipe, any shop doing exhaust should be able to mock one up. You don't have to use a 3.5.
I dont remember the part # of the filter, it'* 6 inch in diameter and 9" long.
Leave your PCM cover on, I just had it off to take a pic of my INTENSE PCM.

well i think 3.5 inch would be best if im going to keep the accordion tube, which i probly will because i dont wanna have to mess with the IAT sensor....and id like to call the local exhaust shop (about 25 miles away if you wanna call that local) and get a price quote on a piece of pipe. but without having the car there theyll wanna know the radius...which i discoved was this

so what do you think i should tell them?

and are there any brands of filter comparable to K&N that arent gonna rip me a new one
