J Wikoff 03-10-2004 01:23 PM

92-95 SE tails don't clear. The lense is colored plastic. Sorry.

Kennginn 03-10-2004 01:24 PM

they cant why not????? is there a way we can modify that to a cleared lens

J Wikoff 03-10-2004 01:25 PM

I believe the plastic is colored all the way through. How ya gonna get rid of that?

jgs11 03-10-2004 02:14 PM

Yea only the SSE and SSEi tail lights can be cleared.

95neongirl 03-10-2004 02:18 PM

just my luck!

jgs11 03-10-2004 02:24 PM

Its not a complete failure though, if you can get ahold of some tail lights from a 92-95 SSE or SSEi and clear them you can put them in your car. Direct replacement. zzzzzzzzzzzeeeeekkkkkkeeeee put some in his se.

95neongirl 03-10-2004 02:29 PM

I always thought the tailligts were the same 93-95 but i will see what I can come up with..thakns for the info though

jgs11 03-10-2004 02:46 PM

Yep no problem, thats what we're here for

Kennginn 03-10-2004 02:49 PM

is it hard to clear them cause i have a SSE? any ideas how long it would take?

jgs11 03-10-2004 02:56 PM

Talk to jwikoff, hes doin clear tails now and his cardomain shows a pic of one cleared.

J Wikoff 03-10-2004 07:18 PM

My first attempt to clear one of the main housings took about 10 minutes. There are several easy tabs, and then caulk holding everything together. Well, first there is some sort of plastic shield that needs to come off.

If you can't clear you can always tint...which IMO looks *sweet* too!!!

BonneMeMN 03-10-2004 08:18 PM

Tint is nice

Another way to do it, is to pull out the yellow and use red tint film inside the SSE lamps, and make them totally red. Or something like that.

95neongirl 03-11-2004 10:06 AM

ok so how hard is it to tint them? what will I need thanks

yea, that's not a bad idea either, nine four did a very good job on his tails, now I don't know if I want them clear or red over the amber,

BonneMeMN 03-11-2004 12:33 PM

If you tint, make sure you clear coat them!

willwren 03-11-2004 12:41 PM

And use a satin clearcoat, not gloss (maybe even semi-gloss). Gloss clearcoat will show too many imperfections.

BonneMeMN 03-11-2004 12:56 PM

Reminds me, i never put enough clear on mine... Maybe i'll get to it tomorrow.
