i was wondering if i could fit SSEI suspension onto my LeSabre.

what makes SSEI suspension special, would it just unbolt and fit on my lesabre?

FE1 (touring ride) is the LeSabre. FE2 (sport ride) is the SSEi. Part of the rear suspension (calculated part) is the ELC (electronic level control) system. It'* part of the calculated spring rate. These are gas struts with air assist. You would have to incorporate that as well, or substitute manual air assist gas shocks in it'* place to get the same 'feel'.

You would need ELC or manual air ASSIST sturts, all 4 springs, and the front and rear swaybars including centerlinks, and polyurethane endlinks preferred.

Since this isn't a mechanical problem, and you're asking about a performance increase in handling, I'll move your topic for you.

What years of SSEI FE2 suspension could i fit onto my 98 LeSabre?

if i found a wrecked SSEI, with intact suspension, could i take the springs, sway bars, shocks, ELC air adjust system off the Bonneville and put them onto my Lesabre?

are there any other components that i should grab in order to get the full SSEI suspension effect?

are there any other upgrades that H-body guys run to upgrade upon FE2 suspension?

and aside from the missing pictures it was very informative. but i would like to know if i need to get the ELC from a Bonneville or if my buick one is the same and will work with FE2. the Lesabre has it already, and im wondering if its easier to simply deactivate it and do what bandit did in his upgrade and just use the following;

Front Strut: 71822 -Monroe
Front Spring: CC658 -TRW
Front Sway Bushings: HB1804 -TRW

Back Strut: 71798 -Monroe
Back Spring: CC653 -TRW
Back Strut Mount: 901953 -Monroe

do these components work without ELC?

Well hold on, now...

I'm thinking that if your 98 LeSabre already has ELC installed, it may well have better than FE1 suspension already.

What is your current suspension RPO code? If it'* F41, you've already got a significantly upgraded suspension, and I seriously doubt going to FE2 would be worth the trouble.

how do i find out if my car has the F41 suspension?

is there a Vin decoder i can use?

Look for the RPO code sticker on your spare tire cover in the trunk. It'* a little white sticker, maybe 2" by 3". It will have your VIN# (make sure that matches the car ), followed by a bunch of 3-letter/number codes. Look for FE1, FE2 or F41 on it.

Better yet, snap a pic of the sticker and post it up (I'm an RPO geek )

My Olds had ELC with FE1, so it need not be any firmer.

Then again, my 93 had FE3 with F41, so all bets are off...

FE3 with F41? I'd like to know how that worked.
