Default Rocker Arms!

i have a 1996 SE and i am considdering rocker arms. i am nervous about this because theese cars are so computor controlled that i think if i put on new rocker arms that check engine lights will allways go on and my car will never run right again.

is this a safe mod to do, especially with 117k miles? will it even make that big of a difference?

Fatty, if they caused problems, we wouldn't have so many people running them. You'll need rockers, OR pushrods, valve cover gaskets, and this would also be a good time to do your UIM replacment and LIM gaskets.

For tools, you'll need a spring compressor and a good torque wrench. You'll also need alot of patience.

The optimum ratio for the L36 was found by www.easyperformance.com to be somewhere around a split ratio of 1.8 and 1.85. (The ER ratio)
ZZP had this ratio a while back and is soposedly going to have it back in stock. The only thing you'll need besides the rockers are new torque to yeild rocker arm bolts and valve cover gaskets.
The lift on these isn't high enough to see valve float. And IIRC people have ran these on stock springs with more mileage.
Definitely need a good torque wrench as was said.
And you'll defintely feel the difference.

Are you saying 1.8 on the intakes and 1.85 on the exhausts? :o

Not sure which way it was. I know the SR rockers were a split ratio like that. Then the ERs came out and they were soposed to be about the same lift but different.
