Default Aluminum transmission pan

I'm getting ready to install one of Bill'* shift kits (need to find a warm garage!), and I came across this:

Aluminum transmission pan

It'* a little pricey, but would be easy to do while I've already got it apart, and it sure sounds nice.

Any thoughts?

Installing it is as easy as taking off the old, and installing the new. The old pan comes off to install the shift kit. Is it worth the price? Only you can answer that. It will cool the trans a little, but that'* about it.

If you have been monitoring trans temps in the summer and know them to be high, I'd probably add a trans cooler before this, but this is a nice add on.

If you haven't been monitoring. Same the money and buy an Aeroforce. Sooo sweet

I do have an aeroforce, and I agree, it'* great! I don't remember what my temps were though, so I will have to experiment with that and let you guys know if it helps.

Anything 200+ when cruising the highways would warrant a cooler and the pan.

I had a cooler back when...before having an aeroforce. Once I got the trans done and the aeroforce, I removed the cooler because the trans wouldn't get over 130F on a 25 mile highway drive home from work. Normal Op temp is considered 160F

I agree! Goto the junkyard, grab a $10 pan, glue some fins on, install a drain plug and your out, what $30? Beats paying $200 for something that a stone is gonna get thrown into. Hope that cast aluminum doesn't get too brittle when its -30 out. IMO anyway.

Rest of the trans casing is cast aluminum..so it shouldn't be a problem .

I have a pan that has metal tube welded to the bottom of it. Maybe 3/8" line.
