KN Airfilter for a 1997 Bonneville SSE
Does any have any information reguarding a KN airfilter for the SSE Bonnie? How much more horsepower to you get out of it? How about PSI? Is It worth it??

Stock air box with a K&N air filter will only get you 5hp, or so. If you have an "SSE" bonnie, you won't get any more "PSI" because you don't have a supercharger. If you have an SSEi, the supercharged model, you won't see a noticeable difference in boost output. If you have a */c motor, probably the easiest way, IMO, to get more boost would be to downsize the supercharger pulley. I would say a K&N is worth it, it'* a good beginers mod If you keep your foot outta it, your MPG'* might go up a digit or two as well.

I'll agree with John. A K&N filter will only get you 5hp at BEST. It may feel like more, but that'* throttle response, which is just 'feel', or quickness off the line. Not really POWER.

While you are changing the filter, you will want to gut the airbox. This will help flow in and out, along with the filter for a nice added feeling.
The one down side is the sound. Upon cold startup your car will have more sound coming out fo the airbox as well. Some don't care for the sound at first .. nearly everyone gets used to the feeling quickly.

Yeah, the sound throws people. I like it myself, but my gutted airbox, and FRAM AirHog tend to make people ask me what'* wrong with my car.
I only hear it when I use my wussy button (remote start) so it don't bother me in the least...
