Default best mods for non supercharged motor

I have a 02 SLE and was wondering what mods I should try and in what order. I don't have money for any internal engine work , and was wondering about cold air intake or intense PCM to just add a little more snap to her without sacrificing highway cruising mileage. Also would I really be able to tell the difference between a drop in K&N and a complete cold air intake , or is there very little difference?

The PCM will help make the most of other mods so the performance increase would be minimal there. But I know on my friend'* 97 Bonneville I gutted the airbox for him combined with a K&N the difference was pretty large. But then again I'm not sure how the 00+ airbox differs from a 92-99.
I'm sure others will chime in with other ideas for you sooner or later.

A nice home made intake and ported exhaust manifolds (www.hulkspeed.com) will add some pep.

The standards around here are opening up the airbox and dropping in a K&N. In your airbox there is a center baffle that can be opened up to allow more air in. However your stock airbox also has a nice duct from the fender pulling in cold air already.

A pulley change down to a 3.5" or 3.4" adds nicely once the air situation is in place.

Then a PCM would allow you to harness more power and less torque management (PCM controlled wheel spin eliminator)

Agreed. Add a PCM to those and the car will be what it should have been from the factory.

its best to browse www.zzperformance.com or www.intense-racing.com and find something that catches your eye. if you have any questions, post them up.

For the 1st mod you should do is a 180 thermastat ASAP ! no real HP gain but its cheap
easy to do and it just mite save your intake manifold, then Id do a CAI than your PCM

Thanks for all the input guys....you all are great!! Any specifics on gutting an airbox on 00+ cars? Should I just get it as empty and smooth inside as I can or what? Also has anyone tried one of those "stationary vortex generators" that are supposed to make the air coming into the intake swirl around for better attomization? Maybe that'* all bull.

The Tornado is a fake, no actual gains from it at all. Read here - http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/forum/...ic.php?t=29283

It'* all about the rip offs.
