SC Cover MOD, Great IDEA gone bad kinda... with pic
Good idea, too much alcohol.
I tried Wilwrens idea and a few others I've seen here of modifying the supercharger cover with steel mesh. It was going GREAT until i was cutting the last section with my dremel and realized that the base of the dremel was spinning around over top of my raised letters on the bottom that say "supercharged". I grinding a few of them down to nuthin. :(
Besides the letters, it turned out pretty good. I'll probably get a new cover and do it right this time.
Check the pics out on this link... http://www.fred.net/noelsy/cover.htm
another negative: I didnt feel the 5-10HP rated gain after putting the cover back on.

I got a second cover to do mine (still a work in progress). They are really cheap (<$20?) from www.GMpartsdirect.com . It looks nice with the lightening bolt pattern in the middle.
To get the HP gain you need to paint the whole cover.

Thanks!
20 bucks? Shoot, i might as well by 2 or 3, more room for errors . One of the plastic retaining clips is busted on mine anyway thanks to a certifed GM mechanic when i got my new supercharger. Are there different styles that will fit on the 95 or do we get the exact same thang?
I'll make sure i paint both sides of the new one. Maybe i can get 15 Hp out of it...

Why do you even keep your */C cover on your car? I took that thing off and threw it in my garage the minute I got it home from the dealer yesterday. All it does it trap heat and it'* not that pretty to begin with. The blower is much more pretty looking. IMHO of course.

cooler blower
HOW DOES THIS SOUND. mount 1 or 2 mini fans on top of or next to the blower, run some kind of ducting from outside air, and have them on switches, turn them on and cool off the blower a few more degrees? anyone else think this is a good idea?

i would rather just get a hood scoop or a ram air hood to do that. its most important to keep the air cool and dense that is entering the throttlebody. fans in that location wont do much for that. i have a 3 inch dryer duct routed from my air box down to above the right fog light. it works great! Once i get a CAI or just an intake pipe, it will still stay there to feed the cone filter cold air.

Now that I'm back to business here (and have enough free time to actually breathe) I'm getting back to my designs for the duct to cool the SC. Ventilating and meshing the cover was only the first half of my experiement. The cover mod decreased my average nosedrive temps by 8-10°, and the duct will do even more I hope. The duct will pick up from just above the radiator on the passenger side of the hood latch. About 12" wide, and 1.25" high. There'* barely enough room for it. I also plan on trimming part of the seal below the wipers to allow some of the hot air out over the windshield.
