Anyone tried porting the throttle body a little?

Default Anyone tried porting the throttle body a little?

I read a post on the ClubGP about a guy who took a Dremel to his throttle body and made it a little larger and much smoother, mostly on the air filter side of the throttle body. He has the 3.4 engine, and said it made a big difference on throttle response.
Anyone here heard about doing that or tried it themselves?
He was pretty excited about how it turned out.

I am pretty sure they have a larger unit out there probably from a LT1.

ZZPerformance makes a ported TB for the Grand Prix but its the same engine so it just bolts on. Check out www.zzperformance.com for more information on it. If you are an SE-SSE look for the L36 TB. If you are an SSEi look for the L67, they just bolt on and cost I think $150 or $200, something like that, but yes it does increase throttle response and give you quite a few extra HP but only if you have an intake and exhaust to make use of the larger TB and the extra plenum of air it provides.

too bad zzp is gay about their core charge.... your core has to be from a new year L36, like 99 or newer. The core charge is like $200-$250. I can't remember exactly and their site is down right now....

so unless you have a newer bonneville, go to a junkyard and find a used newer TB to use as your core.
