Ported Exhaust Manifolds
I'm not intending on doing this right now because of financial constraints (First home, February or March the good Lord or Great Pumpkin willing), but I've been giving thought to PEMs with the ceramic heat coating.
I already have an extra front exhaust manifold and I'm sure I can track down the rear and whatever else I need, but can someone point me towards reputable vendors who do this kind of work for Series 1 L67s? This would be a spring/summer kind of project.

There are no reputable vendors for it. It'* a DIY project. If you don't tackle it yourself, you need to find a local welder/machine shop to do the work for you.
It'* not really difficult, but more of an 'attention to detail' kind of job. The welding technique is the most critcal so the flanges don't warp.

Hmm.. I understand. Not something that I have the facilities or the skill to tackle. Guess I'll shelve that idea for now and put the front manifold back in the basement.

BTW, porting with a dremel is out of the question.
That would take YEARS. I finished with a dremel, but only for final polishing. Even with a die-grinder, it took me a long damn time.

Bill, what did you do about heat with your PEMS though? I know I'm a neophyte here, but I've been told that coating the manifolds in heat shielding material protects the engine and adds a noticable increase in performance when combined with other exhaust improvements.

I used hi-temp ceramic exhaust paint. After the color cooks away (took about a week) it leaves behind a ceramic coating. Probably not as good as professionally applied products, but it probably helps.
Coating the manifolds is alot less important than the porting.
Be warned in your quest for a rear manifold......there were alot of different revisions between 92 and 95.
Your rear can be from 92-95 SUPERCHARGED only, even though you'd think the L27 manifold would work. The front should be 93-95 supercharged ONLY.
One of the NE boys surely must know a good welder?

Gotcha on the paint, this crap helps protect from rust too, right?

We don't use salt out here, so I don't know if a rust comparison between us is fair, but I don't see how they could. They're stainless to begin with (which does rust, just very slowly), and coated now, too.
Just don't wrap 'em.
