Super-Charged 3800 Question
I'm considering using a Supercharged 3800 in a street rod. I'm wondering if anyone else has used this motor in a rear wheel drive configuration. If so, which automatic trans would work?
Thanks

Although personally I think a L67 would be awesome in a street rod, I would go with many many other engines first. The typical street rodder frowns upon 6 cylinders. When you go to a big car show, like the street rod nationals for instance, pretty much every single car there has a V8 in it, unless of course it has the factory drivetrain. Personally, I would go with some sort of V8 Chevy Crate engine, unless I was trying to make something all ford, then maybe a 351 or something, and obviously for a Mopar, there is nothing like a 426 Hemi. I have been going to street rod shows since I was born, and my dad owns at least one street rod a year (he buys them at the beginning of the summer and sells them at the end so he has something to play with during the summer but doesn't have to bother with storing it), so I've seen all sorts of things, but honestly a small block chevy would be significantly cheaper to put in the car, significantly cheaper to get power out of, significantly cheaper to maintain, and with the right combination of parts would attract a lot more attention.
But, thats all my opinion. I would hate to steer you away from something you really want to do, just giving you my view on it.

Maybe a little more detail would be helpful. I'm planning a build up of a 1952 Chevrolet pickup. My goal is a working street rod. Able to look good hauling 1600 lbs or pulling a trailer and also achieve 20 mpg on the way home running empty. I'm thinking that the only way to achieve this is with some kind of boosted motor that would produce 250 hp hooked to an O/D transmission. Not sure if I could achieve the mpg with a V-8. I'm considering a Cummins 5.9, a GM 6.5 TD,(not sure I want to put up with the N/Vibration of a diesel), a 250 chevy 6, I even have a 326 pontiac that I'm looking at, a buddy has a 350/ 700R4(out of an 87 T/A 100,000 miles) that I can buy for $1500 complete with the computer.
(Apologies if I'm getting off topic)
