this pic is what was done down at the mini meet this month
Attachment 31887 and once I got home I went a little farther and so far from the road tests it stays alot cooler in there now :D Attachment 31888 Attachment 31889 I left a spot non taped as to be able to open the lid if need be Attachment 31890 Attachment 31891 Its completely enclosed for now and I added a little redneck cold air hose to help it stay cool Attachment 31892 Attachment 31893 the hose runs up right behind the light just to give it a little extra air sometime in the future im going to build a rigid box but for now this seems to work.. what do you think? |
That looks nice. Very close to how mines set up.
|
Looks good. Gotta ask... I see the insulation everywhere, is that something thats available at Lowes or the typical home hardware store?
Also, what stops any water from going in that intake tube under the bumper? Not that it'd be enough to affect operation of the vehicle, but if you hit a big enough puddle.... I'm thinking of extending a hose from my airbox just so it has some cool air to breathe. FWI isn't in the budget... |
the insulation is reflectix from the depot with aluminum tape covering it, the tube isnt attatched to my box it just helps to get colder air into that area :D
|
Ah good deal. Thanks.
|
That tubing underneath looks strangely familiar. ;)
Glad it got put back to good use. It served Zilla well. :D |
the legacy will live on bill
|
so im thinking of taking the silver stuff out and replacing it with an acrylic box ( like on willwrens sleeper ) but im gonna coat it with wrinkle finish . just wondering if I should build it big enough for the reflectix to stay inside of it or if the coated acrylic (plexi) would keep it cool enough without it.. any suggestions? I gotta get this done before I go under the knife
|
Box with the reflectex in it would be rigid, strong, and very good. Just make a cardboard and tape template to get the basic shape of what you want, then cut it apart and use those pieces as the template for the acrylic/plexi.
