I'm contemplating an external cooling duct for the Blower. I know 95BonnevilleSESC is also. Anyone have any ideas on where to pull air from, and how to duct it over? I've got my own ideas, but I wanna pick some brains before I get into it. I want to have this done before my Pulley gets here.

well.. my 2 cents ( before tax ).. there's no real way of doing it without stealin air from the radiator.. the options I think are most feasible and probably cheapest would be hood scoops. Or a liquid cooled style rad for it ( but then you'd have to worry about too much of a temp difference between S/C and engine that it might crack or warp some metal parts ), and if you're going to spend that much money.. you might as well get an intercooler instead. Or the S/C unit all together. I"ve been contemplating on trading the intake plenum with Muffin (a.k.a. Tamara ) since she has a series II non S/C and maybe modifying that to fit a Vortech or similar S/C. That way she can also have the eaton S/C and plenum of my car and become a bigger sleeper since there's no badging or gound effects kit on her car to give it away... hee hee... If I think of any other ideas.. I'll let you know... hummm..... think think think....

What about installing a pair of heat extractos in the hood? They would encourage airflow thru the engine bay which may help to lower the temp a little. If done right it might look real nice too. :P You might be able to pick up a pre-made pair for something like a (dare I say) Mustang.

hmmm.... I always wanted to put the heat extractor gills on my Bonnie ( The ones like the BMW M3 or Z3 has.. can't remember which one.. the sport coupe )

They already make a kit for the Dodge neon that has the same heat extractors on the fender.

I think you do have options and I would look at something unseen and simple. Then the effect would be worth it. I love this next line. In the SE you could use the fog light holes. LOL but I guess most SSEI have a slightly different system. You could set up a intake on them too, but you would need to do some tricky work to have them work as lights at the same time as sucking air. Yes I did the leg work and its doable.

here is an idea, instead of the godly bumps on the hood for a hood scoop, how about using NACA ducts, like they do in nascar and have the blended into the hood, then you can duct the air to the sc and also have fresh cool clean air to the airfilter too. as for cooling the sc. i do know when i raced my talon, it was very important to put a bag of ice on the intake before the run. (i learned this from a guy running a buick GN) it knocked off 3/10 th off my ET. i was shocked. then i took a guy at work to the track with his 2000 grand am GT 3.4L. he ran a best of 16.14. i begged and pleaded with him to let me put a bag of ice on the intake before he ran, so i did, 30 mins before he ran, when he went to line up in the staging lanes , i took it off. he ran a 15.70. after his run , he came right back to me for another bag of ice. lol. he backed it up with a 15.74 buttttttttttttt lol he had a burger and fries at the line........... a 0.957 light lmao

Hmh an trick that some SCCA racers use to increase air flow in the engine compartment is to put spacers on the back of the hood. Lift the back up just enough to provide a 1/4 inch gap and it will give you lots of flow over the engine.

Lets do a little math to see how much area for air flow you are getting.

I am not sure how wide the back of the Bonne's hood is so I will just pull a number out of my ass. We will say 50 inches wide for the back of the hood.

50*1/4 = 12.5 Square inches.

If you punch 6 louvers in the top of the hood with each louver being 4 inches long and with a 3/8 inch gap you will get 9 square inches for air flow.

I have been thinking about putting heat extractors in the hood above the SC. I was going to use the extractors from the 40th anniversary GP. I saw a Buick wth it done on ClubGP and it looked very nice.

On the bag of ice trick what we used to do was put a bag of ice in a pillow case and then wrap with a towel and put on intake and take it off just as you were about 2 cars back from the burnout box. Works great.
