Transmission rebuild
Okay so almost a year after my top swap the stock 220k mile tranny gave in I think... it won't go on "D" ot acts like its in neautral, and it will only drive on "1" and "2." What I would like to know is it it broken? It obviously sounds like it... the transmission guy was charging me $1000.00 USD to rebuild it and also when he puts it back together he will istall my HD differential and bigger axle included in the 1k I want to know is this a fair price? And what parts can I buy to beef up my tranny? I would like a list of the ideal parts under 200 dollars in total that will beef up my tranny a bit aside from a shift kit. Thanks so much guys!

You wont do much for $200. But I suggest a hardened 4th gear input shaft, that'* about $60. You may find a deal on a higher stall torque converter, perhaps a 2500 or so. A hardened input shaft is going to be around $400

So a torque converter with a 2500 stall and a 4th input shaft? What'* the difference between a 4th input shaft and a hardened? Thanks so much dan and is 1000 fair price?

The 4 gear shafts tend to wear unless hardened. I would look at the triple edge web site. Maybe a updated valve body. 1000 doesn't sound bad.

Your foward band broke. This is a classic symptom. It'* also a pretty common break. http://www.tripleedgeperformance.com...or_3_only.html
At 220K and being rebuilt you can expect that he'* going to do the clutches. There'* a few valve body updates that would be nice to have done as well. http://www.tripleedgeperformance.com...nd_Valves.html
Then there'* some parts to consider:
4th clutch shaft http://www.tripleedgeperformance.com/Upgrades.html
Input shaft http://www.tripleedgeperformance.com/Upgrades.html
V8 chains appear to be the stock replacement as they have possibly discontinued the V6 chains and replaced with the stronger V8'*.

Being a rebuild, I'd expect it to come with a new torque converter. 2500 isn't a higher stall than stock. Stock we stall close to 2700. I know ATSG manual says differently, but thats where things like the k factor come into play from what I've heard/read. A good stock replacement should treat you fine.
Toughest part to think over would be the input shaft. Most of the time guys don't break them until they are well into modding and a lot of power. It does happen though.

What? The 5.3L was found in GP GXP'* and some Impalas etc. These are the drive chains they used in the 4T65 that backed it up. It'* a direct replacement to the old V6 chains and the only chains currently being produced.
