Air box differences

Hey all quick question. Is there a difference between the 2000 SSEi airbox and the 2000 SE airbox? I went to gut my airbox this weekend and i didnt see anything that resembled a baffle. Maybe im missing something?

BillBoost37 06-08-2009 10:00 AM

Not really.

The baffle in yours is more of a wall with the hole in the center section.

Nobotada84 06-08-2009 10:01 AM

Ok i saw that. So then i would just cut that wall out then? the hole seems like it directs the airflow to the tb filter. I dont wanna mess anything up.LOL

That's all I did for a few folks. Seems to help slightly because it opens up more filter to be used.

Thanks Bill. You'll be happy to know the air box gut was a success. It sounds awesome to.LOL

So, I went to gut my airbox, and even after searching this forum, and reading up all I could on this subject, I found that my airbox looked nothing like any others that I could find in this forum?!? Mine was a 3 part box, the first between the intake hose and the filter, the second (middle) section had a baffle on it that I completely cut out, and the third had a computer module screwed to the base of it, and a tube down into the fenderwell (I shortened this tube so that it now stubs into the open box!). I should have taken pics, but by the time I realized that I had something different, I was covered in black gasket gunk, and didn't want to finger up my camera. All this to say, it did make an improvement, (it needed it!) but what do I have? is it normal? What is the module that is housed in the airbox? Thanks in advance.......

Michael

The module in your airbox is the PCM.

Nobotad, we need to have an Indianpolis meet when we mod cars. I've got some cool things in the garage including a spare conical K&N filter.
