Default Pacesetters Or Togs for my 97???

I'm getting closer to start thinking about which mod items I want to purchase for my 97 and Ive been reading up on the Headers a bit and would like to know your opinions.

I was first thinking of going with Ported Exhaust Manifolds, but since I want to continue modding the 97'* powerplant, thats just going to end up costing me money down the road when it comes time to swap them out for headers. (Boosty went through this and is helping me avoid the costly mistake).

So im hoping to get a few members who may have had experience with either Pacesetter headers or the TOG'* headers, and how they bolt up to the 97 or similar.

To tell you the truth, I am leaning towards the TOG'* since they flow a little better than the Pacesetter'*, but then again they are twice as much.

I can afford either or, so pricing is not the most important thing, future modding capabilities are!!

Your opinions are appreciated!!

what is wrong with the SLP'*???

Personally i think your choice should be between the Pacesetters and the SLP'*.

i believe the pacesetters have smaller primaries, and they are better for the n/a crown

and i would vote for the SLP'*

The SLP'* dont mount right as Boosty is experiencing. The TOGS outflow the pacesetters but cost a helluvalot more. I just want the headers to be able to handle my near future mods as well as anything down the road I want to add. like internals and the like

attention ADD boy....did you read what i wrote??

the Pacesetters have smaller primaries, and they dont have a working set of headers for the Bonneville yet

there are no mounting issues with the SLP'*....if you go with TOGS, or the Pacesetters, your gonna have to cut your trans mount, that is just the way it is, and other than a heat shield or so on the rear bank there is no issues

your worried about flow??? keep in mind that the fastest daily driver Bonneville (Todd) is using SLP'* and not having any problems

and Sol Realize that NOONE has Pacesetters, because they dont make them for the Bonneville, and Foghorn might be the only one that has TOGS....i cant recall anyone else that has them on a 96-99

and i have experience with installing the SLP'* on a 97 SSEi

Pat, I read what you wrote but IIRC boosty had just cut and modified his Trans mount to make the SLP'* fit.

Theres No listing, as far as I found, for SLP'* to fit the 97. The TOGS on the other hand are listed for 98 which I believe would be a better fit. Heres a couple of pics for comparison:

I just wanted to know which would be better of the two: PACESETTERS or TOGS.

as i can see your not gonna take recommendations, i believe your gonna have to cut your front trans shock off anyway to make either set fit....

and how is a 98 different than a 97??....they have the same front mount with a shock, and the engine bays are exactly the same otherwise

I am more than willing to take recomendations, but I like to stir the pot and get the discussion going. I'm still learning about all of the mods a S2 can take, seeing that I just got my 97 a little more than a week ago

Now, the SLP'* dont have a specific fit correct? We can agree?

Now the TOG'* say they fit 98 agree? ok, now if the 97 and the 98 are no different, and 3800 performance says the togs will fit a 98 why would I need to still cut the shock mount? I dont get it, unless its going over my head.... dee dee deeeeee????

FYI - What got me asking the header question is the mod build up post by SSEimatt93 which has a link regarding the pacesetters, which state that they are made for the 1997-2005 Bonneville w/ 3800 Engine.

So they do in fact make the pacesetters for the bonneville.
