I've heard some guys have been able to squeeze the LS6 spring on a 97, sometimes it works sometimes not. Also it seems some early 98's wont accept the LS6 either.

Yea, the whole "sometimes or sometimes not" thing worries me. I'd hate to have the engine pulled apart then realize they won't go on.
