3800 Series 1 Performance Parts

I have a 1992 Buick Park Avenue with the 3800 Series 1. Does anyone know were I can get some performance parts? Like headers, rockers, intake, ect.

I got a 3800 series 1 in my bonneville and I beleive that they are the same engines. The only mod that I have done is a cheap intake. For the intake, you can do what I did, or pay a lot for basically the same thing. I went to home depot and bought some aluminum air duct. It cost me about $2.00 Then I went to pep boys and bought a k&n like cone air filter that cost me about $20.00. The intake gave me a better sound and a little bit better performance. It acts the same way as some of those more expensive ones and I spent less than half the cost of them. For more info on how to make it, just e-mail me.

You can take the factory headers off of a Bonneville from 92-94. They should bolt right up. Most support out there is for the Series 2, but some of the chips for the bonnevilles may work. Jet, Superchips, etc. ADTR makes an intake that will probably fit your car if the test fit in mine works. That'll be really soon. Nobody makes heads, but it would be fairly reasonable to pick up a core from the wrecker, and have it ported and polished. Lower intake at the same time. Then swap. Roller lifters, rockers, dimple rods, etc. By the time you're done, you could nearly duplicate the series 2 performance. The larger TB would hold you back. Before doing any of this, change your thermostat to a 180°, and add a tranny cooler.

Cool, can I get the link to the ADTR site?

He'll give you a BUNCH more options. How'd you like an L27/L36 head swap? Just to get you thinkin!

How much power do you want to make and what are you more interested in? I will do my best to help you out and make your car stupid fast.

Right now I have a chip, exhaust, and high flow cat. Im look to put my car in the 15s for the quarter, right now im at 16.4@86.5 mph. Im looking for anywhere from 15 to 30 horsepower.

Which chip, what kind of exhaust and high flow cat do you have? Need more specs of what you are running right now to get that 16.4. It seems with your 86.5mph trap speed you are making your power more on the top end rather than low end. When I ran my car a while back (1 year ago), I was running a 15.9 @ 81/82mph. Give me a few more specs and I can help you getting another 15-30HP our of your Series I engine. Pretty much you are getting to stock Series II HP/Torque ratings with a lighter car.

I have a stage 1 fashchip, xtream flow cat, and flowmaster 80 series dual exhaust. Yeah I have a pretty good trap speed but the time is lagging, just like my 0-60 time its only 8.6.

How is you exhaust set up? I assume a single pipe from the cat and then into the flowmaster then split into duals for the rear? And Stage 1 fashchip? Never heard of them before. But to gain some extra power, you could do an intake then you would have to dive into the engine since there are no other bolt on's right now. The only other thing you might be able to do is port out the stock exhaust manifolds and make them flow a littler better. To gain the extra power I would suggest Porting and Polishing the heads, and cleaning the lower intake manifold. You don't have to do something fancy on the heads to gain 10-20HP. Just cleaning it out and smoothing it would be sufficient.

A few more questions, what did the chip do to your car. Raise shift points, change speed limiter, etc?
