Default my own home made air intake kit and pcm tray {PICS}

well today i was messing around and found my air filter was very dirty so i got determined to get a k&n filter in there. i ended up getting a nice big filter. took the airbox apart, used a piece of the snorkel to make the connection pipe between the crinkel pipe and the filter.

i used a cut off wheel and cut the entire bottom out of the air box, leaving both of the mounts where it mounts to the car. so i was able to keep the PCM right where it was. now the new filter just rests on top of the PCM.

i have read that the PCM is totally sealed by itself and does not need to be shileded from heat and rain? is this true, i giess the intense PCM tray keeps itin the original locaion as well so its really just as exposed to hesat and elements as my version is right?

does it matter if the filter is resting on ther pcm or not? it dont vibrate at all and seems like nothing is gonna happen to it.

also this is a big filter! there is no such thing as too big or too much air right? the car sounds like a freaking airplane when i get on it. lol!

You will need to block that off from the hot engine air. Just put a cold box around it. Other then that looks great.

Looks like a gigantic filter. If possible, I'd try and get some of the tubing and run it into the fender. It'* really a good place for it on your generation. On the pcm, yes it is sealed and can be left w/o worry.

what is a cold box?

i dont know about the bonneville, but back when i had a mustang we did several dyno tests, with a similar setup in the engine bay vs. in the fender and there were zero noticable HP differences between both setups. maybe the bonnie is different?

not bad. huge filter but filter size doesn't really matter so if you dig it good. personally i'd make my own FWI but thats me. not a bad start.

Not sure about the air outside the box, but when driving the inside temp is a few degrees above outside air temp.

Ok, digging up some old pictures here, really hard to see, but outside temp was about 75 that day, and air going in was about 78. The red line is air temp. You can see each time I stopped at a red light.
