Default AC Compressor Bypass Pulley too short?

Ill take pics around lunchtime and upload them, still at work awaiting the boss to return lol

I bought one of the Auto Parts AC Compressor Bypass Pulleys, didnt have the 300bux to replace the compressor and the clutches were messing up and felt like it was gonna lock down soon... but after putting it on ive noticed that its short... i guess... the pulley doesnt stick out as far as the compressor did... so the belts running right next to the motor mount bracket... ALMOST touching it... actually under load might be touching...

any way to fix this???

it was listed for 92-99 but prolly technically for the 96-99 series II... it worked... bolted in place... has worked well so far but i have to fix the tensioner this weekend and while the belts were off i was going to straighten that one out too

i was thinking some flat washers or something to just move it out more but i want something solid and reliable so i dont have to worry about it breaking later on down the road lol

Looks like you just need to shim it out a bit. Check the mounts on the compressor and compaire them to the bypass.

i did when i got the compressor off ... theres about 1/2 inch difference *guessing* ... it worked and the belt didnt rub so i put off shimming til later, then forgot... when at idle the motor started surging a lil and i got to looking and the tensioner is bouncing with every surge... and all the pulleys turn smoothly so i think its just the spring going, but that made me remember i need to fix the ac delete pulley too... so ya

what would be the best way to go about shimming it out???

does that give us some more torque with no compressor?

Not sure if I buy into the HP gain because typically if the compressor isn't on, it'* a pulley like the bypass setup.

There is some nice weight savings though.

I looked it up and the total weight of the AC system is 32 pounds. 9 pounds just for the compressor.
