Default Cheap Ebay Headers?

Anyone bought a set yet?

I'm starting to think it might be worth a shot.

Pacesetters: Problems with leaking, questionable build quality, missing welds, very hard to install due to the larger primarys. Cheap at $349.

SLP: Problems with leaks at the flexpiece? but easily fixable with wrap, still very expensive headers

TOGs: Most Expensive, Overall probably the easiest solution from what I've read

Ebay Generics: Very Cheap, they look decent, http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/forum/...ic.php?t=71024 ..will need some work at a machine shop before installation though. probably no more than 80 bucks.

I know this has been brought up before but I was wondering if anyone sees any problems with the headers like fitment? I can still spend $100 at a machine shop to fix any issues with the set and still be cheaper than the pacesetters.....

ahh, I was not aware he was purchasing them, I'll bring my camera and get some more pics to go along with the ones zoomer posted earlier in the year.

I guess as it stands, no one has installed a set so far. For the price I may just take one for the team...after i see them in person first that is.

They are a guy'* you haven't met yet Hans. Keven is getting TOGs. Anyway, I saw them at our Sonic cruise in last week. Honestly, they look like crap. Crappy welding, crappy quality, crappy everything. For those who thought that Pacesetters were bad they need to see these in person. Very bad. You will see them. I don't look forward to installing them really, but hey, it should be interesting anyway!

I think someone used the word CHEAP in the topic title.

That alone should give a clue.

The older link you sent, I looked at the eBay URLs on that, and read the feedback of the seller. Apparently they were JBA knockoffs and were EXTREMELY cheaply built. BTW I should also add in that the guy I know that put them on his Regal said that they are cracking and rusting already, and haven't even been driven in the winter yet.

Link to the seller (which no longer is a registered user)

Winning bid was $345.
Not too bad and they are 300 series stainless steel.

Could buy two sets for the price of one TOG.

Cheap, reliable and powerful. You can only have two of these attributes. Take your pick.

Pacesetters do not have a problem with leaking since ZZP got a hold of them. They are not hard to install at all.

We had similar headers pop up over on the Buick boards and some guys even a vendor bought a set. They tore into them and gave some evaluations on welds, material quality, ect. The vendor that bought them said the metal was high quality but wasn't TIG welded therefore more prone to cracking at the welds. The other guys that bought them and installed them said that they fit the block nice and straight and no leaks on the flange-to-head connection but the lower crossover pipe needed some work to fit properly and not leak. I think one guy said he spent $60 at a machine shop getting the fixed and they fit perfectly. The only way I could see these being worth it, would be if you could "fix" them for free on your own by rewelding with a TIG, and that'* not very possible for probably 99% of us.

From what I have seen the comments you put by each in your original post are not overly true.

Overall..what I've seen is this:
Togs: Pretty good qualtiy, Ed McGrath had some issues on install..but it went good overall. SuperFlash'* 6 month old Togs look older than mine and aren't.
SLP'* They tick.. it'* not a leak, it'* a known issue with the way the charge from the cylinders hit the flexpipe. Wrapping muffles it..that'* all.
Pacesetters: Come with bad gaskets... you can buy new ones for low cost and be done. Overall..not bad at all.

Overall on the three major brands I haven't seen anything that would keep someone from buying any of them. If you want slip fit..go SLP, if you want 5 connection points for the piping..get TOGS.. if you want less connections get PaceSetters.
