I called and spoke to Dave at TripleEdgePerformance and he explained to me that the 2003 transmission uses only one amperage pressure table to determine shift pressures, while the PCM I have uses two; a high and a low. I did confirm this by looking at my tables and realized that there are indeed two. He said that the PCM is calibrated differently since the 03 transmissions have a different PCS that is calibrated according to the the differnet valve body. This could be part of my problem.

The problem here is that I could spend a boatload of time and money replacing parts, dropping the pan, replacing the side cover, and etc. in order to make this work, only to have issues with the tune from the start, when I could buy another transmission for $350 shipped to my door. Past that its just buying a cherry picker and swapping transmissions.

I'm going to play with the PCS pressure settings when I get home.

here'* what alldata says about a 99MC3800 and a 03century3100, repectively.

the only differences in how it operates is the frequency at which the PCM adjusts the current.
I wonder if the frequency makes a difference at all?

assuming the solenoid can handle being switched that quickly, it shouldn't....

don't suppose you haz ability to view what the amperage vs pressure table in both tunes? i'm looking at an 03 impala 3400 tune in tinytuner and only see 1 FMC vs CLP vs Temp table(Force motor current(also known as the PCS) vs commanded line pressure vs trans fluid temp).

now, i then opened a 99 lumina L82 BIN( i don't have any 3800 stuff), and saw the pair of tables.... they don't look all that different to me?

methinks copypasta will work?

I have Bob'* HPTuners setup, and I can indeed see that information. I do know that there are a pair of tables for the 99 and there is only one for the 03. I'm trying to figure out how that translates into how the transmission works with the PCM.

You want to send thos tables over?

i'll email them in an excel file... from the looks of it, the PCS current looks to be shown in mA, if that makes any difference...

i would assume throwing the original 03 table into both the positive and negative tables in the earlier OSID would make it much more consistent.

What do you make of this?

It is possible the 2003 Bonneville transmission can be used with an older computer. However, you would need that computer reprogrammed to ignore the internal gear pressure manifold switch assy that it was originally programmed to work with.

considering the 03 century trans didn't use the internal switch and used the external one like the older 65E'*, i'd say it doesn't apply here.
