water pump 94 olds3.1

Hello everyone, I have a 94 olds cutlass supreme 3.1 that has a water pump going out. I was wondering if anyone has any tips that will make it an easier job. I don't have a torque wrench so I am worried that I won't be able to seat and tighten correctly. I don't want to over tighten and break something. Any help is very much appreciated. My car has 150,000 miles on it. Thanks in advance for any help anyone can offer. I have a good basic know how on cars and a good selection of tools, is this something I should be able to do at home ?

Go for it. Just use medium force when torquing the bolts,

Thank you for the quick reply. I will do exactly that. I was concerned because of some bolts requiring inch pounds and others are foot pounds

What carfixer007 said ^^^^^^^

. . . and clean clean clean all of the mating and gasket surfaces

. . . and use pre-mixed antifreeze or mix with distilled water.

. . . and check the belt, pulleys, etc. while you've got it apart.
