Will welcome exchanging anyone with experience dealing with blown
ignition modules in 86 Olds Calais, 2.5 Liter 4 cyl cars. This is the one
weakness in this very fine car. Most past trouble has been because the connectors turn upward, where rain water can flow into the module.

Question: Is this correct? Do I need to go through a very painful modification of turning the connectors downward? (requiring wire lengthrning.)

Question I can find replacement modules and distributors, but none of them
inlude the O-ring around the module, that would let the distributor cap seal
better against the rain. Can ANYBODY give me a source, number, etc, for
that O-ring? I can be of help to anyone about removing this distributor. I have become very good at it, perhaps doing that a half dozen times, over the years.

Also, a super sneaky ailment in this distributor. It has a tiny clearance between the four rotor lobes and the magnet stator. Over the years, both iron parts rust, causing the rotor to strike the stator, and make spikes, hash, etc, in the ignition cycle. I really had to do some filing, to get that clearance back, the last time I was into it.

This distributor still has the old-time simplicity of timing with a timing
light. If you ever blew a module on a 90 model Olds, you would count
blessings for this older version.
