Need Help With Brake Job
Hi everyone. 1991 Olds Toronado. 3.8 v6.
I'm doing some brake work and I have 2 questions. 1. I put new calipers and pads on it. What kind of grease should I use on the caliper pins? The pads came with grease for them and it said to also use it for the pins. But I had already put white lithium grease on the pins. Is this ok? (I put the grease that came with the pads on the pads.) basically I want to know what kind of grease for the pins. I also have some of that reddish looking hi temp bearing grease. 2. While I was doing this and other work the master cylinder drained completely. But I never touched the brake pedal. Do I still need to bleed it? Appreciate any advice. |
You'll likely need to bleed the master cylinder first and once it pumps do the longest line first and so on.
They make a grease for those pins. It's very thick. You should be OK though. |
thanks for the info. i bought a hand vacuum pump to bleed the brakes. hope it works.
