Default Shudder in O/D Olds 93 98

On a Olds 98 year 93

A friend of mine has shudderr in O/D when going up slight hills or accelarate in O/D.
Tranny fluid changed. Plugs changed 2 years ago.

Do you know if they had 4t60-E tranny for those years, and if so, where'* the TCC Lockup solenoid on the tranny? ( can it be done DIU or a shop only thing? )

Any other idea? ( I already bugged him to try changing the plugs and wiresagain, but meh.. he won't budge sayin it'* still good. )

It only happens after it warms up. I will check the coil pack for resistance later on today

Any other ideas?

Don't forget to check the plug wires as well. My '95 LeSabre is doing the same thing (only 58,000 miles) and I believe it is the converter solenoid. Seem like plug replacement (after 2 years) would be some cheap insurance as well.

Yup, its the tranny. My old 93' 88 did the same thing. New coil packs, plugs, wires, O2s, and cat is what I did to try and eleminate the problem. Made no difference.

just went for a drive in it.. doesn't do it when its cold..
tranny fluid was changed in mid may ( pan drop / filter change, no flush )

It feels like you're going thru the rumble/wake up strip but less harsh..

It almost feels like in O/D the torque converter is slippin too much. ( I know it'* suppose to slip some )

So a few questions more folks

a.) Where is the TCC Solenoid located on the tranny? ( Can it be DIY? )

b.) How do I check the TCC bore?

c.) Is there a plug or something that can disconnect the O/D ( TCC lockup ) but still keep 4th gear? ( Since he may not want to fork out the $$$ to get a tranny fix / rebuild )

JR do you know if the issue also affects 4t65E HD??
My car stutters as soon as it engages O/D then its fine and free revs a lil too much before engaging O/D
