Just snapped my control arm
Well, I guess it's time for a new driver's side control arm. I just took a corner (not really even that hard/quickly) and my steering all of a sudden went crazy. So I pulled over..and Voila! My control arm was torn near the wheel, kind of dangling there.
So, it's time for new control arms. Suggestions on a good brand/place to buy? How hard is the installation? Any writeups? |
Being a older car, you may want to check local salvage yards. A pick and pull would be a good option. That way you can practice removing the donor, then pull yours and put the new one on.

That's a bit of a problem...The nearest one is a good 8-9 hours away, so I'll have to order it. : /

Have you checked at www.rockauto.com

I looked under 2001 Intrigue; they only had one brand..
I'm checking under 2001 grand prix's now. |
"mevotech's" for $118 a piece.

How difficult is it to put these things in?
|
I've actually never done one, never had the need. Don't look to hard, two pivot points, and then suspension, sway bar, and steering.

Phew..Lucky! The salt-crap on the roads here, along with the potholes, completely destroyed mine. :(
Are there any writeups anywhere? I'm pretty sure I can figure it out on my own, it looks pretty straight forward, but pictures always help. |
