Thanks for the link to the intake man, I never noticed that one before!

And I pity the people who actually buy those chips...

It'* a shame what little aftermarket DOHC engines have. Just like the 3.4DOHC in the Monte Z34s... The things had potential, but they SUCK to work on.

I liked the 3.5 "Shortstar". It was GM'* first DOHC to not require Premium fuel. Lots of power.

Still 20 hp/20 tq below my Bonneville..and that was a 94 :P

But, to give it some credit, it IS an extremely well built engine.

Yes but somewhat of a disappointment considering the 3.4 DOHC LQ1 they put in w-bodies put down the same amount of power with .1L less displacement, and it was made in 1992 to boot.

All this makes you wonder what kind of performance there is to be had with this engine. I would imagine the potential is pretty great. I woudl start with a tune, if the PCM can be tuned. Shoot me a PM and I might be able to get you in contact with an LX5 expert (IIRC that was the engine code for the 3.5L DOHC Shortstar).

As for a Cold Air Intake, I was able to take out the factory restrictive bo and installed a Cold Air Inductions setup, with no problem on install.

A previous boss of mine said he had an 01 intrigue that he enjoyed for a little while (the guy has owned a lot of vehicles), I remember him complaining that it was fun to drive until he had brought it into the dealer and they changed something with the tuning ("updates", or maybe his was tuned and they set it back, I can't remember exactly), I do remember him saying after that is was way less fun to drive and sluggish compared to how it used to be so he got rid of it shortly after...I would assume there has to be some options with tuning it

not quite. the LQ1 didn't require or even suggest using anything other than 87 octane.
