Default Engine Killing CTS

I'm dealing with a Series 1 3800 Engine that has killed 3 Temperature Coolant Sensors in a month (I even replaced the pigtail just in case)..........................why?

Is this on a Burgundy 1991 Oldsmobile 98?

The only thing I can think would destroy the sensors is if they get shorted to power.
I have the wiring diagram if needed.
