right after the last post I made I got a brand new ignition module and put it on. It ran good for about a day then acted up again, only this time really bad, I barely made it home. was cutting out like crazy.
So it'* been sitting. I just got time to check it yesterday and today. I took the wire harness that goes to the ignition module and feeds the crank and cam sensor completely off the car. The crank and cam sensor connectors, where the pins go into them, looked very loose. So I got new ones from the junkyard that look really good and spliced them onto the harness. I also untaped the whole harness and looked at all the wires to make sure everything was good.
Starts and runs great. I really think it was the crank sensor connector, it looked terrible. So there isn't much more it could be, except maybe bad wiring or ECM.
I am going to start driving it again tomorrow as my daily driver so I will know if it fixed it.
As always I will keep you updated. fingers crossed! I'm beginning to doubt my mechanical abilities! So this better work.
later folks

I think you'll be good. It don't take much of anything to interrupt those low power signals. Pin tension, even a light oxidation. They are sensitive.
Did you solder and shrink fit the repair?

Oh yes, solder and shrink tape, Then wrap in electrical tape, then put that plastic like covering on it.
I tried ordering new pins for the connectors and found out the hard way there are 150 and 150.2 series connectors. very slight difference. I got the 150 when I needed the 150.2. that'* when I said the hell with it and went to the junkyard. I still may get the right pins to have in the future. Or new connectors with pigtails. I can't find the right one for the crank sensor.
I also got those special tools used to take the pins out.
practiced on some old connectors and man are those things hard to get out! some push to set and some pull to set. I think I have the hang of it now. but I'd rather get new connectors if I can find the right ones.

Some of the retainers wont give or they will break. I didn't care for connector work but it is very necessary on these low power devises.
