You have a good shot that the module will fix it if there'* no problem with the wiring. The crank sensors can fail like that but it'* more common with the module. CKS tend to fail when hot and will not work until it cools.

I may have solved the problem. I put some injector cleaner in a full tank of gas and have been driving it regularly. I put around 300 miles on it in the last month or so. It seems to have slowly gone away.
when it would do it, I would practically floor it and it wouldn't do it anymore that day. If I didn't goose it, it would keep on doing it.
and slowly it quit doing it as often until now it hasn't done it in a week (about 50 miles).
this car has sat quite a bit for the last 2 and a half years so who knows. even though I would try to drive around the block every couple of months. Now it'* my everyday car, so hopefully this is fixed!

well I'm back! It started doing the same thing again.
I have driven it the past month and put about 400 miles on it, highway and city, and it didn't do it at all. ran great! then all of a sudden a few days ago it started doing it and kept on doing it all day.
I'm now going to change out the ign module and see if that cures it. If not I will then take out the crank sensor and check and realign it. I actually got lucky and found a crank sensor alignment tool used online for $40! on Craigslist in Ohio and the man was nice enough to mail it to me.
I tried recording the problem with my phone to post it but the video was crappy.
I just wanted to let you all know what'* up. weird problem. I'll keep you posted.

Don't mess with the crank sensor. Not likely a mis-aligned sensor would be intermittent.
ICM is good bet. Check all the pins of connectors.

I finally got around to changing out the ignition module. I have 2 used ones that I think are good, but the problem is still there. I replaced the ignition module connector because the old one looked pretty bad. loose contacts. no dice, still doing it.
So I checked the fuel pressure.
key on engine off, 35 psi.
engine running 45 psi.
my manual says it should be 41 to 47 key on engine off, with engine running pressure should drop 3 to 10 psi.
I thought the pressure would go up with the engine running. and mine did. but it'* obviously low with the key on engine off anyway. what do you make of this? my pressure went up when I started the car...
Bad Fuel pump?

Since you have good operating pressure I would look to ignition rather than fuel. You're fuel system will not fail like that. Like turning the key off, correct?
We have a long pressure line to our fuel gauge and we will put the gauge under the wiper and it'* in your face as you drive. That will confirm or eliminate fuel pressure. I really think you need to stay focused on ignition. Were the pins all nice and clean on the connectors?

the old connector was in terrible shape. the one I got at the junkyard looked great. spliced all the wires, soldered and heat shrink tubing on them. tape them up then put that plastic wire mold cover thing over them.
tomorrow I will go get a new ignition module.

got brand new ignition control module and installed it. If you don't hear from me for a while, that'* good. that means it'* running ok.
If it acts up again I'll post.
and if it runs good for a month or two I''ll let you all know.
