CV Half Shaft Question
 

Last year I had to replace both half shafts due to the otter boots were torn on them well ever since I replaced them I have has nothing but problems with the hub assemblies on the right front side keep going out within a few months no matter how good they are. So after I got around to taking it to a forth shop hoping they may be able to figure it out since the other three were clueless on why they were going out so fast but the forth shop couldn't find and problems either but he asked what type of CV half shafts I had in put in and I told him they were the re-manufactured MasterPro ones from my local Oreillys. So we got to talking a little more about what he mentioned and he then proceeded to let me know that the driver side re-manufactured axle is shorter and the new axle is longer in length. The front left axle re-manufactured or new is the same length. So with that being said since I have been having trouble with the right side of the car when it came to hub assemblies can an axle cause them to go out. different length axles can stress the bearing side to side and wear it out

So is there really much of a size difference on the axle that I mentioned above to cause that. I'm not the greatest when it come to math that is why I'm asking.

I have a hard time, visualizing 1/4" creating stress on a bearing, since the joint flexes in & out, especially with it locked in at a high torque number......If too short, you would think the half shaft would make a noise......

But if cheap bearings aren't used, and proper installation procedures are followed, I guess it's a possibility......

When the bearing goes, is it making a noise or is the ABS light coming on?

It has been making noise for the last two weeks or so. I have Timkin on both sides right now and it is messed up on that one one side.

i cant think of what else might cause it. i have heard if you dont torque the axle nut properly or too tight it can take out the bearing

The torque specs for that nut for my car is 195 foot pounds. I guessing that is may be one of those things that I'll half to buy the new axle and see if my problems go away.
